Why it matters
Small website problems quietly cost you customers
Most website problems don’t announce themselves. Visitors just leave, enquiries don’t arrive, and you never find out why. An audit finds these issues so you can fix the ones that matter most.
Slow mobile pages lose enquiries
Most people will find you on their phone. If pages load slowly or jump around while they load, visitors give up before they read your offer. Google publishes clear targets for loading speed, responsiveness and visual stability, and we check your site against them.
If Google can’t understand you, customers can’t find you
Google mainly uses the mobile version of your site to decide where you appear in search. Missing page titles, weak descriptions, broken links and pages that can’t be indexed all make it harder for the right people to find you.
Broken forms mean missed work
A contact form that fails silently, a phone number you can’t tap or a checkout that stalls on mobile can cost you business for weeks before anyone notices. We test the routes customers use to get in touch or buy.
Trust is won or lost in seconds
Visitors look for signs that you’re a real, established business: a secure connection, clear contact details, up-to-date policies and a site that works properly. Browsers warn people when a page isn’t secure, and that alone can stop someone getting in touch.
Missing or out-of-date policies
Privacy and cookie policies, a cookie banner that works, clear terms and returns information for online sales, and easy-to-find business details are easy to overlook, especially after a site has changed. We check they’re in place, linked and match what your site actually does, so you can put any gaps right.
What we check
Six areas that shape your results
We look at your website the way your customers and Google do, then explain what each finding means for your business.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
- Loading speed on mobile and desktop
- Core Web Vitals: loading, responsiveness and layout stability
- Image sizes, page weight and anything slowing pages down
SEO and Google visibility
- Page titles, descriptions and heading structure
- Pages that can’t be found or indexed, and duplicate content
- Sitemap, robots settings and how your pages appear when shared
Mobile and design
- Layout, readability and navigation on phones and tablets
- First impressions and how clearly you explain what you offer
- Consistency of branding across the site
Forms, links and conversions
- Contact forms, tap-to-call links and email links tested
- Broken links and dead ends
- Calls to action and the steps to enquire or buy
Security basics
- HTTPS across the whole site, with no insecure content
- Common security headers in place
- Visible issues such as out-of-date plugins or exposed admin pages, where we can see them from the outside
Policies and website basics
- Privacy policy present, linked and matching what the site collects (for example forms, analytics and newsletter sign-ups)
- Cookie policy present and the cookie banner working, with non-essential cookies held back until the visitor chooses
- Terms, delivery and returns pages present and easy to find, for sites that sell online
- Business name, contact details and, for companies, company details easy to find
- Accessibility basics: colour contrast, image descriptions, form labels and keyboard use
- Clear consent wording on email sign-up forms
Our policies and website basics check is a practical website review against published guidance. It is not legal advice. If you need advice on your obligations, please speak to a qualified adviser.

Does Google understand them
We review page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure and duplicate content, and whether each page says plainly what you do and where.
Do they work on mobile

When it’s worth it
When a website audit pays off
An audit is most useful at a turning point, when you need to know what to fix before you spend more.
Enquiries have gone quiet
If calls and form enquiries have dropped and you don’t know why, the audit checks the usual suspects: slow pages, broken forms, missing pages in Google and unclear calls to action.
Before a redesign
Find out what is worth keeping and what needs to change, so a new website fixes the real problems. See our website redesign service.
Before paying for SEO
Make sure the technical foundations are sound first. If you go on to monthly SEO with us, the findings shape the first month’s plan.
After a launch or a big change
A new platform, a new domain or a batch of new pages can quietly break redirects, forms or tracking. The audit checks them while they are easy to fix.

Questions
Good to know
How much does a website or SEO audit cost?
£99, as a one-off payment. That covers a full audit of your whole website, including the SEO audit, with a prioritised report within 2 working days. There is no monthly fee and nothing else to buy.
What does the £99 include?
A full review of one whole website: speed and Core Web Vitals, SEO and Google visibility, mobile and design, forms, links and conversions, security basics, and policies and website basics. You receive visual examples, prioritised findings and a practical fix for each issue. It is not legal advice or a security penetration test.
Why would my business need an audit?
Problems such as slow mobile pages, broken forms, missing page titles or an out-of-date privacy policy rarely show up in day-to-day use, but they can cost you enquiries and trust. An audit finds them and tells you which to fix first.
Do you check my privacy policy and cookie banner?
Yes. We check that your privacy and cookie policies are present, linked and match what your site does, that your cookie banner works, and that sites selling online have clear terms and returns information. This is a practical website review, not legal advice.
When will I receive my audit?
Within 2 working days of successful payment and receipt of an accessible website URL. We email the report to the address used at checkout. If we can’t access the site, we’ll contact you, and the delivery window starts once access is available.
Do you make the changes for me?
The £99 covers the review and recommendations. You can use the report yourself, share it with your developer or ask us to quote for the improvements.
Can you audit a website you did not build?
Yes. The audit is designed for existing public websites, whoever built them. No website login is normally needed.
Do you work with clients in the United States?
Yes, for site audits, SEO and creative work. Website design and build projects are only available to clients outside the United States, because our build contracts are built around UK law and we can’t yet meet the separate US legal requirements.
Can I cancel?
Consumers normally have 14 days to cancel. If you ask us to start straight away and cancel before completion, you pay proportionately for the work already done. Your cancellation right ends once the audit is fully completed at your request. Full details are in the audit terms and our terms & conditions.
Is this the same as an SEO audit?
It includes one. The SEO and Google visibility checks cover page titles, descriptions, headings, indexing, duplicate content, your sitemap and robots settings. The audit also covers speed, mobile, forms, security basics and policies, so you get a fuller picture than a search-only report. For ongoing work after the audit, see our SEO service.
How long does an SEO audit take?
Your report arrives within 2 working days of payment and receipt of an accessible website URL. The SEO audit is part of the same report, so there is no extra wait.
Can you audit WordPress, Shopify or Wix websites?
Yes. We review your site from its public address, the way visitors and Google see it, so it can be built on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or anything else. No login is normally needed.
Will the audit change or slow down my website?
No. We review your site from its public address, the way visitors and Google see it. We do not change anything on your website and no login is normally needed.
What happens after the audit?
You decide. Many businesses fix the quick wins themselves or pass the report to their developer. If the findings point to a bigger job, we can quote for the improvements or a website redesign. If you go on to monthly SEO with us, the audit findings shape the first month’s plan.
The small print
Audit terms & cancellation policy
Your order. £99 buys a bespoke, full audit of one whole website, including a check that its policies and website basics are in place, plus a prioritised recommendation report. The policies and website basics check is a practical website review, not legal advice. Implementation, ongoing monitoring and third-party costs are not included.
Delivery. The report is emailed within 2 working days of successful payment and receipt of a working, accessible website URL. Please enter the correct website and checkout email. Let us know promptly if either needs correcting.
Starting work. By requesting an immediate start, you ask us to begin during any applicable cooling-off period. Business purchases are non-refundable for a change of mind once ordered. Consumer rights, where they apply, take precedence.
Consumer cancellation. If you buy as a consumer, you normally have 14 days from the contract to cancel. If you expressly request an immediate start, you may cancel before completion but must pay for the work supplied up to cancellation, in proportion to the agreed service. Once the service is fully completed with your prior request and acknowledgement, the cancellation right ends.
Refunds & your rights. No change-of-mind refunds are available after the audit is completed. This does not remove rights relating to a service that is not supplied or not supplied with reasonable care and skill. Where a refund or other remedy is required by law, those rights remain.
Contact. To ask about an order or exercise a cancellation right, email hello@webbuilderagency.com with your order details. This service is supplied by Web Builder Agency.
